Guten Tag, ich heiße Lyra. I am a Korean-Canadian composer, singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer. I am also a goldsmith and jewellery designer, currently based in Berlin.
Music has always been the biggest passion of my life. I received classical trainings in piano and violin until I was 10 years old. When I was 11, I began listening to metal and its subgenres, and taught myself to play the guitar. I started singing as a lead vocalist in a high school band and an all-female band. I wanted to study modern music in England when I turned 18, but my parents disagreed with the idea and sent me to Canada instead, hoping I’d study science or law to be just like the rest of my family. That’s how I ended up in Toronto in the first place but I never turned out to be what my family wished me to be. Instead, I started to get tattoos and piercings, with all the freedom I had far away from my strict parents. I played as a vocalist in several metal bands in Toronto, including a band called Illvsionia. Meanwhile I went to college for Jewellery Arts and started working as a goldsmith.
My curiosity continuously let me into different subjects or languages, at some point I also studied coding. It has definitely expanded my horizon and perception.
Since I moved from Canada to Germany (completely randomly), I’ve been focusing on producing my solo music (more here), and making gold and silver jewellery (more here).
I am an extremely curious creature. Curiosity always allowed me to further my knowledge in many different areas but 'restless' would be the right adjective for sure. Starting last year I've been trying to find balance and peace through biking and more outdoor activities.
